{Wedding Highlight ~ Alexa & Elliot}

10 Jan

Alexa and Elliot were married on July 16, 2011 at the Columbia Marriott. They had a Jewish ceremony followed by a gorgeous sit-down dinner. Everyone had such a fun time at this wedding… the couple even pulled me out on the dance floor for Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin’’ during the reception. Favorite. Song. Ever!

The florals for this wedding were created by Grant Lorick and his creative team at Something Special Florist & Gifts on Main Street in Columbia, SC. We used beautiful sunflowers and tartan ribbon {to reflect Alexa’s Scottish heritage} throughout the ceremony and reception décor.

One of our favorite parts about the reception were the fun place cards – each guest had to pick up their very own vintage postcard featuring a National Park in the United States. {Hint, hint}… Alexa and Elliot traveled to these National Parks on their honeymoon! {love!}

We loved working with Alexa and Elliot as well as all of their talented vendors. Congratulations again to the beautiful couple and to their now family of three!

{Wedding Highlight ~ Jenna & Josh}

31 Dec

So, this is my favorite couple EVER. I’m not gonna lie…. Jenna is my best friend. Of course, they’re my favorite couple. I was honored to be Jenna’s Matron of Honor for her Spring nuptials that took place on April 30, 2011 {the very day after Princess Kate and Prince William said ‘I do!’} What a fabulous wedding weekend all around!

Jenna and Josh got married in a beautiful, historic church in downtown Wilmington, NC with a reception that followed at St. Thomas Preservation Hall. Her colors consisted of turquoise and white…. And we {loved} the Krispy Kreme wedding cake. I also personally enjoyed making the bride’s jewelry for her to wear… and she borrowed my hair comb as her ‘Something Borrowed’… we love you Jenna and Josh!

{Wedding Highlight – Lindsay Moore & Brian}

23 Dec

Lindsay Moore and Brian celebrated their one-year anniversary last month– congrats you two! Their gorgeous fall wedding was held on November 12, 2011 at St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lexington, SC with a reception that followed at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Columbia, SC.

The florals for this wedding were absolutely STUNNING! Scott Jones with American Floral did an amazing job creating high and low centerpieces for this sit-down dinner as well as constructing a dramatic, hydrangea-filled arch as you entered the ballroom. Simply gorgeous!

My favorite parts of this wedding were the gorgeous colors, linens and attention to detail. We added an orchid to each place setting that was also accented with custom menu cards, lush lamour napkins and silky Shantung linens.

We were also honored to have this wedding featured in the Carolina Bride Winter/Spring 2012 issue. What a gorgeous, gorgeous bride! Much love to Lindsay Moore & Brian on their first year of marriage.

{Wedding Highlight ~ Catherine & Alex}

15 Oct

Catherine and Alex just celebrated their one-year anniversary – congrats you two! Their vibrant Fall wedding was held on October 1, 2011 at The Hall at Senate’s End in Columbia, SC.

Catherine chose a very jewel-toned color palette reminiscent of colorful gemstones… hot pink, bright orange and deep purple. So, we had a lot of fun playing around with different fabrics and textures. The oh-so-talented Vicki Walker, with Carolina Blossoms, created Catherine’s beautiful florals.

Catherine added a few, very personal touches and even made the favors {a sweet package of hot cocoa with marshmallows that had hearts cut out of the middle… with a tag that said ‘c + a… our warmest thanks… 10.1.11.’  We heart you Catherine & Alex… thanks for letting us be a part of your wedding day!

{Wedding Highlight ~ Caroline & David}

8 Oct

This couple has such a special story… the first day that I met with them to discuss their wedding… the mother of the groom and I realized that I had grown up with the groom. David and I actually went to kindergarten together. Small world!

The story of how Caroline and David met is even more interesting… while the mother of the groom was in the hospital – Caroline happened to be her nurse. The mother thought Caroline was so dear and gorgeous, and she decided to set her son up with the nurse! They went on a few dates, got engaged… and so the story goes!

We were honored to be a part of their beautiful, Fall wedding. Caroline is one, gorgeous bride – she is originally from Brazil. The colors consisted of burnt oranges, chocolate browns, rosy reds and touches of gold. And, to add in that touch of ‘home,’ the menu consisted of Brazilian traditions, such as Fresh Tilapia with a Mango Salsa, Polenta Cakes, Black Beans, and more. The couple even had a choreographed First Dance to the song ‘Time of My Life’ from the movie, Dirty Dancing. Omgeeeee…. we love. So, take a glimpse at these gorgeous photographs captured by the talented Amanda Zabrocki Photography. Enjoy!

Cheryl & Landon – 4/23/11

21 Mar

Cheryl stopped by our booth at the St. Andrews Bridal Show in January 2011. She was so lovely from the start. When she came to me, she had only 3 months until her wedding. So needless to stay… we hit the ground running.

Cheryl and Landon met while in Iraq, and they both still work with the United States Army. After the wedding, they moved just 3 weeks later to Alaska, where they currently reside. The bride wanted a very feminine and soft reception filled with white feathers, pearls, some antique touches… and of course, china! So, whom did we call to be the caterer? Jack Brantley with Aberdeen Catery. Jack always does a flawless job, and he came up with the perfect menu for Cheryl and Landon’s wedding and reception at The Seibels House & Gardens, located in Columbia, SC.

For the invitation, Cheryl and I met with Tara Felder of Jot Papers to create the perfect, feminine invitation… just lovely!

The Seibels House & Gardens is part of the Historic Columbia Foundation, located in the heart of Columbia’s historic district, the circa-1796 house offers one of the city’s most popular venues for all of your special occasions. The ceremony was held in the gardens underneath the beautiful palm trees with a reception in the next garden, underneath a beautiful, white tent from Palmetto Party Rental.

For favors, the bride made an entire array of sweets all from scratch… they were delicious! And for an extra special touch, Cheryl placed her mother’s wedding veil as an overlay on the cake table. It’s all about the details!

Many thanks to Corey Potter for the beautiful photographs… a true, top-notch photographer.

We absolutely loved working with Cheryl and Landon, and we’re happy to say we still keep in touch with the newlyweds even all the way in Alaska. Best wishes to two fabulous people!

Meet Erica & Jeremy – 2/5/11

16 Mar

Erica and Jeremy are definitely meant for each other… there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. They dated throughout high school and college… while Erica was at Winthrop University and Jeremy at The Citadel. They are the perfect match!

It all started with the proposal… a secret plan that Jeremy had schemed all by himself. Without Erica knowing it, he had spelled out ‘Will U Marry Me?” on the back lawn of his parents’ house in white, Christmas lights. Jeremy totally gets full credit for this idea! Little did Erica know, about 30 of their closest friends and family members waited downstairs to surprise her right after the proposal. She burst into tears when she saw everyone waiting to congratulate them both.

Their save-the-date set the tone from the beginning, created by Billingsley Designs. It featured Erica’s favorite wedding colors – fuchsia, black and white. The bride and groom also hired one of the best photographers in town – Courtney Dox Photography. Courtney captured their personalities just perfectly in their engagement photos… along with Erica and Jeremy’s chihuahuas, Gus and Gabby. Too precious!

The ceremony was held at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church with the reception at Saluda Shoals Park River Center. The River Center boasts a large, open floor plan… perfect for wedding receptions and rehearsal dinners. There’s a perfect dance floor space right in the middle amidst a beautiful, stone fireplace.

Here are just a few of our favorite shots from their beautiful wedding… courtesy of Courtney Dox Photography.
